Kelly Bennett appointed as PRINZ Fellow

With more than 20 years’ experience, Kelly Bennett is the consummate public relations professional.

The Public Relations Institute of New Zealand will be inducting One Plus One Managing Director, Kelly Bennett, as a Fellow at its annual awards ceremony in Hamilton on Wednesday 30 May.

PRINZ Fellows demonstrate a high degree of competence in the practice of public relations and are nominated based on their significant contribution to the enhancement of the public relations profession.

About Kelly Bennett

With more than 20 years’ experience, Kelly Bennett is the consummate public relations professional.

His career began in consultancy in Auckland but soon took him to the UK where he furthered his knowledge with stints in both agencies and in-house roles, including at the Royal Bank of Scotland in Edinburgh.

On his return to New Zealand, Kelly joined Whybin TBWA\ as founder and managing partner of Eleven PR, which he led successfully for seven years. While there, he became Regional Director of all TBWA\’s three PR agencies throughout the Asia Pacific Region and undertook pro bono work for organisations including the One Percent Collective, The Arts Foundation of NZ and the NZ Music Foundation.

Kelly established his own successful communications consultancy, One Plus One Communications, in late 2013, and mentored the 2017 Sally Logan Young Practitioner of the Year winner, Alex Harman.

Throughout his stellar career, Kelly has been an active advocate for the public relations industry and has mentored and lectured entrants into the career. As well, he has championed best-in-class work as a jury member at numerous local and international awards, ably representing New Zealand on the world stage.

During his time at TBWA\, he helped establish PREScom, a group within the CAANZ, now the Commercial Communications Council, to ensure PR’s views were properly represented to advertising and media agencies, holding the Deputy Chair position for three years.

Without doubt, Kelly is one of New Zealand’s foremost public relations professionals, demonstrating a passion for the industry and a strong drive to uphold its professional standing at all times.
